Some of us who belong to the Flickr.com Peoria group are getting together for a photo shoot on Saturday, Nov. 3. If you're a photographer--professional or beginner--why don't you come join us? We usually have alot of fun at the informal gatherings we've had so far. Dave, the group founder has a great event planned for us. Check out the details:
WHEN: Saturday, November 3, 2007 - starting at 9am
WHERE: We are starting at the Forest Park Nature Center, 5809 N. Forest Park Drive, on the northeast side of Peoria. There is plenty of space in the parking lot at FPNC - so we'll convene there.
DETAILS: The Forest Park Nature Center has seven nice trails, ranging in length from 3/4 of a mile to over two miles, all located between Prospect Rd., and Rt. 29. There are numerous creek crossings and wonderful dapple light throughout. You can also cross the road and take the 1.25 mile (one-way) hike on the Pimiteoui Trail up to Grandview Drive.
We'll spend about two hours at FPNC on the trails and then it's up Rt. 29 just a few miles to Detweiller Park for the 2007 IHSA State Cross Country Championships.
There will be six cross country races that Saturday - running hourly - and starting at 9am. The festivities include a lot of great people shots (there will be thousands of folks at this event - it's a big, big deal), sports (hey - it's a cross country racing championship), and wilderness (it's in Detweiller PARK).
There is a $10 charge per car for parking at the race, so car pooling from FPNC will be discussed upon our arrival at the trialhead.
WHAT TO BRING: Bringing a camera might be a good idea. Bring a spouse (who could also bring a camera), kids, snacks, and something to stay warm and/or dry with. Don't bring your dog or your pet python as they are not allowed at either FPNC or the cross country race. Trail maps will be available at FPNC - and they do have vending machines. Food is always available at the cross country race too.
C'mon out and meet some fellow Peoria photogs and just hang out with some cool people. And if THEY don't show up - you can hang out with us - the photo geeks.

Hey thanks for posting this. I didn't even know this group existed. I'm definately going to try to make it. Just bought a Canon Rebel.. which I don't know the first thing about. I'm just going to try to stumble my way through it ;-)
we'd love to have you join us! if i can't help you stumble your way through your camera, someone else can. most of the members shoot canons so you'll be in great company!
Well, the cool people shoot Canon, anyway. ;-)
